Working in Early Years settings

Children's early experiences of food play an important part in shaping their later eating habits, and good eating habits and positive messages about food support healthy growth and development.

All About Food works with a variety of Early Years/Childcare providers and Children's Centres, delivering courses for both practitioners and parents, focusing on preparing and cooking food, from weaning to family meals.

Our aim is to increase the number of family meals that are cooked from scratch and to decrease reliance on ready-prepared and processed foods.

Whilst ready meals and takeaways are easy, they can be unhealthy and contain high levels of salt and fat that can be damaging for children. Our courses demonstrate just how easy, fulfilling and healthy home-cooked food can be — and much cheaper, too.

The courses also provide an opportunity to try out lots of recipes in a time-managed way, and all food cooked can be taken home for families to taste.
